I’ve been asked if we, the American public, are between a rock and a hard place. I assure you, we could wish to be many places, but that is the best we could hope for. We are in a situation much more sinister and dire. For visual reference imagine we are stuck between the Rape Ape and a Martian with a J shaped anal probe attached to the drive shaft of a Ford F-450. You can debate the difference between torque and thrust all you like, in the end we are throughly fucked.
Our situation is desperate for many reasons. A majority of those reasons orbit McCain and Biden. Oddly enough, I view Obama and Palin as essentially equal. Some might find that surprising. I’ll explain why later on in this manic essay. My hatred of McCain derives from a single cause. That evil and despicable act was carried out with bi-partisan assistance in the form of a poster child Democrat from Wisconsin. Some of you must be throughly confused at this point, but it makes perfect sense. However, the sneaky bastards in Washington never intended you to understand and worked carefully to ensure that.
The McCain-Feingold Act, Campaign Finance Reform. A bi-partisan effort to clean up politics. The greatest compromise between the parties in nearly a generation. That’s what the sales person says anyway. In reality it’s nothing more than an effort to shut up private citizens, use peer pressure a weapon and create a back door for large donors to fund campaigns. I was shocked that this law slipped through Congress and past the media so easily. I was on the verge of mental collapse when the courts upheld the First Amendment restrictions this law imposes. The Constitution is not a living document. It’s a scrap of paper that can be dismissed in part or whole at the whim of the Federal government. When the occasion suits them the bastards will invoke a passage from that document. In the same breath they can also declare other portions irrelevant. The Constitution is a zombie. The undead. It cannot be killed, but it will never again be the brave protector it once was.
McCain-Feingold is just one of many laws that are used to suppress the populace. A net if you will. Before McCain-Feingold these laws were little more than bundles of ropes that would bite at the ankles of free speech. Campaign Finance Reform tied it all together. A complete net with secret escape holes known only to party bosses. Here’s a list of some of the things this net accomplishes. A limit is set on how much an individual can donate to a campaign or ballot initiative. Establishes that non-monetary donations such as volunteer work or talking must be assigned a dollar value and counted towards the donation limit as an in-kind contribution. Donations must be reported and are viewable by the public. Establishes a type of non-profit group called 527’s that are independent from campaigns, but can campaign for or against candidates or issues. You may be thinking that these things sound like progress, but I assure you that with the help of dodgy lawyers these rules have produced foul results.
In Washington state a talk radio host rallied listeners against a gas tax initiative. His opponents sued claiming he violated the campaign donation limit and did not report the in-kind contributions. The courts agreed. Effectively a talk radio host was ordered by the court to cease talking about an issue on an upcoming ballot. Freedom of speech be damned. If you discuss an issue or write about it you are subject to limitations. I may be in violation right now. Apparently you’re supposed to enjoy your freedom up until you hit the limit and then shut up regardless if the election is over or not. Thankfully there has not been widespread enforcement of this. The lawyers apparently know that if used sparingly the moronic majority will never notice.
One of the bedrock principles of our election system is anonymous voting. This allows individuals to vote as their desire without fear of retribution from their fellow citizens. Instead of stripping us of that right, they’ve kicked in the back door and ripped the curtains off the windows. You are bound to disagree with your neighbors on a variety of issues. What if you happen to live in a neighborhood with a general tendency towards a specific political spectrum. Some of you out there may be shocked that anyone would live in a neighborhood that disagrees with their political views. I assure you, it’s very possible to get along with your political opponents. I’m a libertarian and I have many liberal and conservative friends. I’ve even dated very liberal women. I can’t say I’ve dated a very conservative woman, but that is primarily because I strongly believe in premarital sex. These former flings didn’t agree on many issues, but friends, lovers and neighbors are different things. You can get along with your neighbors well enough, but if they find out you donate to a cause they find offensive, things can get very uncomfortable. Peer pressure is an effective weapon against most. Courage in one’s convictions is rare indeed and let’s be honest, we generally try to get alone with one another. Few want to rock the boat, especially a house boat.
The 527 group is without a doubt the most nauseating change in our elections. Wealthy donors can spend unlimited amounts attacking the opponents of their candidates. They simply create another group. During an election there can be hundreds of these groups producing television ads attacking candidates. These groups can say whatever they like, which I don’t disagree with since I strongly support the freedom of speech. The sinister part is that campaigns can declare ignorance. These groups are supposedly independent. The villainous swine running for election have unlimited resources for attack ads and plausible deniability. Swift Boats for Truth, MoveOn—we’re expected to believe that these groups don’t take orders from the campaigns.
The end result of Campaign Finance Reform is that elections are now uglier and less informative than they were even a decade ago. We’re told this is progress, a success. McCain and Feingold brag about this accomplishment and call it evidence of their ability to work beyond the confines of their parties. I’ll call this catastrophe by it’s true name. The two-headed swine attacks America.
I’ve previously discussed why I despise Biden, but I could make it clear why I find this credit industry puppet such a threat. I consider the economic situation in regards to credit, bankruptcy and foreclosures to be the most important issue in this election. Some will disagree with me and say Iraq is the big issue. Well, I’ve been to Iraq. I’m actually writing this from Iraq. I see the situation first hand. I see what’s reported and what’s not reported. My specific role here doesn’t allow me to go outside the fence, but I have ample opportunity to talk to guys that work outside the wire and we have local nationals that work on base. Not everything they have to say is good. Not all of it is bad. However, the picture is much different that what the television networks portray. You’re being lied on a daily basis and the talking heads are counting on the fact that you will never witness the real Iraq in person.
Millions of Americans have come face to face with the dark reality that bankruptcy laws, lending regulations and the sales practices of lenders have been rigged against them. It’s a dreadful and clever trap. It’s not the American Dream. It’s a parasite feeding off that dream. A few well placed individuals are getting very rich by destroying the lives of millions. The situation must change. The practice of a variable rate loan was so heinous that it was removed from Hell’s Bible. Even the Fallen One felt dirty using such a tactic. Of all Heaven’s creations, humans have proven to have the greatest capacity for evil.
This election has provided me with at least a slight tickle. Obama and Palin are not much more than a cult of personality. I find the juxtaposition rather humorous. Right now the Palin cult is similar to the February-March Obama cult. The camera loves them, but it really has nothing to do with their politics or leadership abilities. It’s an oddity to be sure. The people will follow them, but what the hell are they leading towards? Republicans scream that Obama is just a silver tongued charlatan. Democrats gripe that Palin is nothing more than a pretty face. Maybe both are right.
I was pleased to discover during my breakfast, which is the evening news back in the US, that the bailout plan failed to pass. It suffers the same problem as Obama’s tax plan. We’re told it will do this and won’t do that, but there are no real details. We know the where, America. Why is because we have some economic difficulties. They’ve told us what. $700 billion to buy bad loans. Tax cuts to 95% of working families and small businesses. But damned if they don’t care to tell us how.
Obama’s tax plan just doesn’t add up when you consider his other campaign promises. Expanded free trade agreements with South America. Tax benefits for companies that create jobs in America. Nationalized health care. These are all things that pull in different directions. Free trade agreements and cheaper labor costs is why so many companies shifted jobs out of the country. How exactly do you give tax breaks to companies and working families at the same time? If you create nationalized health care, who pays for it? The employers? Maybe cuts would be made elsewhere. What are those cuts? Obama is just making promises. Maybe he’s honest about wanting to do all these things and he has a plan to make it work. I’m not inclined to believe that since he’s hitched his wagon to the credit industry whore and he’s short on explanations.
So here we are. Who do we go ass up for? Who’s going to offer the least violent rape? Can we expect a reach-around or at least soft kisses on the back of the neck? Has either considered getting us drunk first or enlisting the help of the Ether Bunny? These are desperate times not even suitable for perverts and weirdos. We are not however on the brink of a total stock market failure. That’s merely a fear tactic they used to force the bailout through. I’m surprised it didn’t work. People are stupid.
