Cut From The Team

Some months ago I wrote a post about the band Taking Back Sunday. At that time, I hadn’t mastered streaming audio, but now I have so here’s one of their songs.

Cute Without the ‘E’ (Cut From The Team) is from their first album, Tell Your Friends which was released by Victory Records in 2002.

The Benson-Star Trek Connection

TV Land is running a Benson marathon today and I noticed something interesting. Two of actors that were main characters in the show went on to play roles in the Star Trek shows and each had a role in one of the movies.

Rene AuberjonoisOdoRene Auberjonois played Clayton Endicott III in Benson. His Star Trek roles were Odo in Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Ezral in one episode of Star Trek Enterprise, Colonel West in Star Trek IV and he directed nine episodes of Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

Ethan PhillipsNeelix Ethan Phillips played Peter Downey in Benson. His Star Trek roles were Neelix in Star Trek Voyager, Dr. Farak in one episode of Star Trek The Next Generation, Ulis in one episode of Star Trek Enterprise and a Maitre d’ in Star Trek First Contact.

Jesse Wayne That got me thinking, maybe there are other actors from Benson that also ended up in Star Trek. I couldn’t find any more actors, but I found one interesting thing. Jesse Wayne did the stunts in Benson and the original Star Trek series. The interesting thing isn’t that a stunt man from Benson was also a Star Trek stunt man, its the fact that there was even a stunt man in Benson.

Gimme Cats

Today I offer a dedication to my roommates cat, Spartacus.

Wild World was written and performed by Cat Stevens. When he was born he was given the name Stephen Demetre Georgiou, but he changed that to Cat Stevens. But even that didn’t last since he now goes by Yusuf Islam. Is there a limit to the amount of times you’re allowed to change your name?

But this version isn’t being performed by Cat Stevens. This is Me First And The Gimme Gimmes. They’re basically the ultimate punk cover band. Seriously, that’s what they do. They remake other peoples songs and get paid to do it. Of course they do it very well. Name the hit song from the 60’s or 70’s and they’ve probably performed it. Each album they make has a theme. Right now they’re in the studio working on a new album which features covers of country songs. That’ll be interesting.

Stoned Spartacus

It’s hilarious how my roommates cat Spartacus nibbles on fuzzy catnip balls. She’s looks like a squirrel gnawing on a nut. Look at that claw action!

Spartacus gets a sniff, that's high grade catnip straight from Columbia

She’ll roll the ball around in her paws sucking all the catnip out until she ultimately destroys it.

Spartacus goes in for the kill!

I’m not sure if this is just her stoned look, or if she’s irritated that I’m taking her picture.

Spartacus is annoyed by the camera

Well apparently that is her stoned face.

Spartacus is stoned!

Stupid Commercials

Why is there always some company that can’t resist making an incredibly lame commercial? Is there some advertising firm out there that specializes in making the dumbest ads possible?

The most pathetic ad on television these days is Esurance’s “Greenfinger”. The company must assume a large population of the television audience is a bunch of thoughtless environmentalists that will buy anything that is supposedly good for the environment. Granted there are many environmentalists are completely clueless. Just ask Patrick Moore, a co-founder of Greenpeace, who is quite unhappy that the organization has been hijacked by ignorant activists that have no understanding of the facts.

So what’s in this ad anyways? Well you could just watch it on YouTube, here’s the link.

Basically the ad claims other insurance companies waste paper, but if you buy Esurance, you won’t hurt the environment. To cap that off, the characters in the ad escape in a hybrid car and they make sure viewers know it’s a hybrid. “Quick, get in the hybrid.”

LAME!

Although, every single Esurance ad ever made has been lame, but this one really takes the cake.
