Badger Hockey Wins, 5-2

Badgers rule! Did you see the hockey game? That was awesome. Maine was thoroughly handled, 0-7 on the power play. And then Maine desperate to close the 2 goal gap pulled their goalie with 2 minutes left allowing Earl to break out and fire a shot into the empty net giving the Badgers a 5-2 win.

Next up, Boston College. This will be a tough game, but they will win.

Dane101 Party

Lorenzo's Music

The Dane101 party was a good time. Great local bands. The first two weren’t my flavor of music, but they put on a good set. Lorenzo’s Music headlined and that was the first time I saw them. I don’t get out much anymore since I work at a bar. Lorenzo’s was very good and they’re coincidentally the band in the above photo. Out of the three bands, Lorenzo’s was definitely the closest to the type of music I listen to and I’ll probably go see them again.

It would’ve been nice if there was a larger turn-out, but everything has to start somewhere. Next time, be there.

This was also the first time I’ve been to the High Noon Saloon. It’s a really nice bar. That entire building is great. I’ve been to the Brass Ring right next door several times and I really like that bar. Parking in that area is sometimes a pain, but if you find a spot, at least it’s free parking.

Too Old to Sell Sex

Sharon Stone is having a hard time accepting that Basic Instinct 2 is a bad movie. Even the original wasn’t much to brag about. The success of the first movie owes a lot to marketing. If the advertising for the first movie didn’t focus on the famous scene when Sharon Stone uncrosses her legs to reveal her undercarriage, would the movie have done as well at the box office? I bet it wouldn’t have.

Stone just can’t seem to understand that her body doesn’t have the draw it used to. First of all, we’ve seen it and thanks to DVD’s and the internet, we can see it whenever we want. Between the first Basic Instinct, Sliver and The Specialist, Stone’s sexual capital has been spent. Unless of course she goes the Marilyn Chambers route and prances around naked in bad B movies. I’m sure she could make money doing that and those movies cost little to produce.

Then there’s the fact that she’s gotten older. Stone should have learned something from her character in Catwomen. When models get older, less people care about them and they get replaced. If the story wasn’t so focused on sex, then her aging wouldn’t matter. But the story is all about sex. She’s a murdering psychopath that seduces her victims and frustrates investigators with her sexual teasing.

Stone is so frustrated that Basic Instinct 2 bombed at the box office that she wants to direct, rather than star in Basic Instinct 3. I don’t know how well she can direct a movie, but her not staring is probably one of the best things that could be done to ensure the next installment makes a profit. Although I think she might have trouble convincing a studio to cover the costs of another sequel considering the incredibly poor box office sales for Basic Instinct 2. I’d bet there won’t be another sequel. Stone’s star has fallen, but she just refuses to accept that.

Editors have been having a lot of fun with headlines, he’s a some of my favorites:

Basically, ‘Instinct 2′ lame sequel

‘Basic Instinct 2′: Stone-cold lame

“Basic Instinct 2″: No panty lines, but no excitement, either

Basic Instinct 2, basically stinks too

Stone and ‘Basic Instinct 2′ are more silly than steamy

Basic Instinct 2 looks like filet mignon, goes down like ground chuck: review

(This editor got a little carried away)
