Captain Ed over at Captain’s Quarters sums up the DeLay indictment very well. Liberals are almost cheering in the streets right now. Why are they cheering? The charges are brought by an obvious partisan activist whose been caught attempting to use the courts to attack the opposition once before already. Also interesting is what DeLay is charged with. Both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party used the same trick in Texas during that election. Was this trick against the law? Did they know that? Why are just the Republicans charged?

This indictment may end up hurting DeLay, but it will also pull DA Ronnie Earle and the Democratic Party of Texas into a storm. No one is probably going to come out of this mess smelling like roses, but I think it’s going to damage the Democrats more than the Republicans. If you’re going to use your legal attack dog to take down the opposition, make sure he doesn’t quote laws that you also break. It makes you look arrogant and stupid.
