The USS New York, LPD-21, still under construction and docked at Avondale, Louisiana may be seriously damaged from the hurricane. Her bow stem was cast from steel salvaged from the World Trade Center. She is a San Antonio Class Amphibious Transport Dock Ship for the Marine Corps and was scheduled to be completed in 2007. The motto for the USS New York is “Never Again!”
