Shepherd Express Update

The latest issue of The Shepherd Express printed two letters from readers upset with the article about the Milwaukee Hurling Club. One letter was from a member of the St. Louis Hurling Club. The other letter was written by Milwaukee Hurling Club’s Administrative Coordinator, Karen Fink.

An Editor’s Note appears below the letters which addresses one complaint with the article and an apology to the Milwaukee Hurling Club.

Editor’s Note
The sentence in which “sport” appeared in quotation marks in the Milwaukee Hurling Club article was making the point that hurling did not begin as a sport, but as a means of training Celtic warriors for battle. This usage was not intended to call hurling’s present status as sport into question.
The article was not intended in any way to undermine the long tradition of hurling or the many achievements of the Milwaukee Hurling Club.

I hope they accept the invitation by Karen Fink to attend the Opening Day celebration, witness some games and write a fair article about the club.

My first comment about the Shepherd Express article can be found here.
