Iraq Votes

Filed under: Politics, World News — Steven A. Stehling @ 11:22

The election in Iraq appears to be a success, despite the warnings of insurgents and anti-Bush fanatics. There was some violence, but no where near the levels expected by some. I hope liberals can at least admit that the United States helped give the people of Iraq a voice in their own government. They probably won’t though. I’m sure they’re busy dreaming up a conspiracy as I write this. That’s too bad really. The people of Iraq need all the positive thoughts and efforts possible at this time. Iraq should and could be a nation of rich culture. Their history is impressive, but nearly lost. I believe that with help, they will once again be the center of culture and technological advance in the Middle East.

Now for a personal note. Skiing yesterday was an experience. I fell down about 30 times. I lost a ski countless times. I even lost both skies one time as I somersaulted onto my back. That I will admit hurt quite a bit. We skied for about 4 hours. At the end my legs were on fire. This is the first time I’ve been skiing out west. The hills in Wisconsin just cannot prepare a person for the length of hills out here. In Wisconsin it would take at most 20 minutes to get to the bottom, if you made an effort to go slow. I think the fastest I made it down yesterday was about an hour. Granted I’m not a very good skier, but these runs are very long. From the top lift it was at least a mile in a straight line to the lodge.

I’ll be taking it easy today to give my body a chance to recover.

TAHOE MOTHER!%&#@*

I’ve spent my first night in Tahoe. The place we have is nice. A little three bedroom lodge with a 4 person hot tub a mile from the hills. Today we go hit the slopes for the first time. I haven’t gone downhill skiing is a very long time (over 10 years), so this should be interesting.

Fire the Liberal Windbag

Filed under: National News, Politics — Steven A. Stehling @ 12:20

Ward Churchill is a perfect example of liberal bias in academia. A little background first. Ward likes to make stupid and offensive claims. His latest is a statement that compared the World Trade Center 9/11 victims to one of Hitler’s henchmen, Adolph Eichmann. Lovely words from a lovely person.

How does he still have a job with the University? He spreads hate and misunderstanding. He would be immediately fired if he said something like, “black people are monkeys” and he should be. He should have be fired for his comment about the 9/11 victims. Someone like this shouldn’t be teaching anyone. He certainly shouldn’t be a government employee. We’re actually spending our tax dollars to spread hate.

The other thing that bothers me is that there isn’t more media coverage about this.

I also start my vacation today. One week in Lake Tahoe and a long weekend in Las Vegas. I’ll be staying at the Bellagio in Vegas. I’ve always wanted to stay there and a friend of a friend managed to get me a room there during Super Bowl weekend for $129 a night.

Threat to Wi-Fi users

So you think you’re slick and you connect your laptop to all sorts of hotspots around town. Guess what? That hotspot might be spying on you. Perhaps you should be more careful about what you connect your laptop to.

It’s a conspiracy I tell you

Felony charges for voter suppression
It’s official; there is evidence of voter suppression during the Presidential election. It’s no surprise to me, the culprits are Democrats. This editorial does a fairly apt job of throwing blame around, but it fails to cast its gaze upon what might be the guiltiest party. Were these individuals acting alone? Did the Democratic Party in Milwaukee know of this plan prior to its execution? The media should be asking these questions, not disbursing blame for the criminal acts of a political campaign.

The CNN article predictably refers to the vandals as “activists” and not Democrats.
